It was a busy weekend of state tournament with several teams from the Lower Hudson Valley winning championships. Two others — the Rye and Dobbs Ferry football teams — advanced to next Sunday’s championship games at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.

The Section 1 Class AA championship will be decided on Saturday at Mahopac. That’s one of five games I preview (along with the state quarterfinal-round games involving Section 1.)

What are you going to do with that extra hour you get tonight as a result of daylight savings time?

The answer for those of us at tonight’s New Rochelle-John Jay Class AA semifinal came with about eight minutes remaining in the third quarter.

Yeah, folks, that’s No. 7 for the Eagles, who dispatched of Bronxville 56-19. And yes, that’s the same Bronxville which had won seven straight.
