Tappan Zee center fielder Brittni Alexander had a walkoff home run to left field to give the Dutchies a 2-1 win in eight innings over the North Rockland Red Raiders.

State gymnastics: Section 1 three-peat

Section 1 defeated Section 3 186.175-182.675 to three-peat at the NYSPHSAA Gymnastics Championships. Kylie Shields won the vault, balance beam and floor exercise titles. Danielle Bonner won the uneven bars title. Shields also set a new record on the vault and the team set a new record on the beam.

Girls basketball: Pearl River defeats Tappan Zee in Class A quarterfinals

No. 6 Pearl River defeated No. 3 Tappan Zee 71-44 in the Class A quarterfinals at Tappan Zee High School. The Pirates will face Spring Valley next week at the County Center in the Class A semifinals

Gymastics: Section 1 championships

Tappan Zee won their second consecutive Section 1 team championship 178.600-175.200 over Clarkstown. Mahopac’s Kylie Shields defended her all-around title and won the floor exercise and vault crowns. Gymnastics: Divisional Championships recap

Tonight capped off the Divisional championships at Lakeview Elementary School. Last night Clarkstown won the Division I championship for the first time since 2006. Tappan Zee made it three straight Division II championships. Both teams will face each other at Carmel High School Thursday for the Section 1 championship.

Gymastics: Tappan Zee’s record-setting night

Tappan Zee won the meet 184.50-177.65 over Clarkstown and in the process set a new Section 1 team record. The Dutchies also broke their own Section 1 floor exercise record with a 48.2.

Gymnastics: Mahopac vs. Lakeland/Panas

I just finished my story on the Mahopac vs. Lakeland/Panas gymnastics meet which was a very close meet and a good measuring stick for the Rebels. The Indians went onto win the meet 169.15-166.55 but all in all; it was a good meet for the Rebels.
